The professional range or cooking suite forms the operational heart of a superyacht galley. Whether a compact four-burner unit on a 40-metre vessel or a bespoke multi-section suite aboard a 90-metre explorer, the range must deliver consistent, controllable heat output while withstanding the mechanical stresses of extended ocean passages.

Gas, Electric or Dual-Fuel?

The choice of energy source is one of the first decisions in any galley specification. Gas ranges — typically LPG on yachts — offer immediate, intuitive flame control that experienced chefs prefer for sauce work and sautéing. Electric and induction-based suites eliminate open-flame risk below decks, simplify ventilation requirements and align with the move toward hybrid and fully electric vessel propulsion. Dual-fuel configurations, combining gas burners with electric ovens or induction zones, represent the most popular balance of performance and safety in modern superyacht galley design.

Marine-Specific Construction Requirements

  • Structural integrity: Ranges must be gimballed or positively secured to withstand vessel motion; fiddle rails on all cooking surfaces prevent pots migrating in a seaway.
  • Corrosion resistance: 316-grade stainless steel construction throughout, with sealed burner bowls and protected ignition systems rated for a salt-laden atmosphere.
  • Flame failure devices: Mandatory on all gas appliances installed on commercial yachts under MCA LY3 or equivalent flag-state codes.
  • Compact depth profiles: Galley suites are frequently specified at 600 mm or 700 mm depth rather than the 900 mm standard found ashore, preserving circulation space for galley crew.
  • Custom panel integration: Bespoke fascia panels and control knob positions can be configured to match interior design specifications on large custom yachts.

Brands and Custom Solutions

We work with Electrolux Professional, Mareno and MKN for modular cooking suite configurations, and collaborate with specialist marine fabricators to produce custom-dimensioned ranges where standard product dimensions do not suit the vessel. All units are commissioned by our engineers with attention to gas pressure regulation, earthing and isolation requirements specific to the marine electrical environment.
