Superyacht Galley Extraction Canopies

Extraction canopies are the first and most critical line of defence in superyacht galley air management. Positioned directly above cooking equipment, a correctly sized canopy captures grease-laden steam, combustion products and cooking fumes at their point of generation — before they can migrate into the wider galley space or the extract ductwork downstream.

Marine Canopy Design Considerations

Low deckheads, structural beams and the need to route ductwork within tight void spaces require canopies to be designed specifically for the vessel rather than selected from a catalogue. Our extraction canopies are produced by specialist fabricators who understand the structural constraints and aesthetic standards of the marine environment.

Canopy Construction and Performance Features

• Capture efficiency: Canopy width should extend a minimum of 150 mm beyond the cooking equipment on each side; front-to-back depth must cover the full equipment depth.
• Grease filter type: Labyrinthine stainless steel baffle filters offer high capture efficiency, fire resistance and dishwasher-safe cleaning.
• Grease drainage: A continuous internal grease channel draining to a collection cup must be incorporated; grease overflow from an un-drained canopy is a significant fire hazard.
• Integrated lighting: LED lighting strips within the canopy improve galley working conditions.
• UV-C and UV-V systems: Ultraviolet oxidation systems within the canopy plenum break down grease molecules and reduce odour downstream.
• Make-up air injection: Short-circuit canopies with integrated front-face make-up air supply improve capture efficiency and reduce the total supply air volume required.

Supply and Installation

We produce bespoke extraction canopies in 304 and 316 stainless steel with satin or mirror finishes, supplied with baffle filter banks, grease cups, lighting and UV systems pre-fitted.
