Why Professional Procurement Matters

Galley equipment procurement for superyachts is not the same as buying commercial catering equipment for a restaurant. Vessels may be registered in one jurisdiction, flagged in another, based in a third and taking delivery in a fourth. Equipment must meet marine safety standards that commercial food service equipment does not always satisfy without modification. Lead times must align with refit schedules. Customs documentation must be correct before equipment crosses a border. These complexities make specialist procurement management an essential element of any galley project — not an optional extra.

The Superyacht Galley manages the complete procurement process: sourcing the right equipment at competitive pricing, coordinating logistics to the delivery point, managing customs and import documentation, and providing after-sales support once the equipment is installed. We have established supply chain relationships across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific that enable competitive sourcing from multiple supply points — not just the nearest distributor.

Transparent Pricing, No Hidden Margins

Our procurement fee structure is transparent and agreed upfront. We charge a procurement management fee as a percentage of equipment value. We do not inflate list prices and apply hidden discounts. We do not receive undisclosed commissions from manufacturers. The pricing you see is the pricing you pay, with our fee declared separately. This transparency is a prerequisite of the independent advice we provide.

Frequently Asked Questions — Procurement

Why use a specialist for galley equipment procurement rather than buying direct?+
Buying direct from a manufacturer or distributor means dealing with their terms, their logistics and their documentation processes. For a single piece of equipment on a simple domestic installation, that is manageable. For a superyacht galley with ten to twenty individual items from multiple manufacturers, coordinating to a yard delivery schedule in a different country, it quickly becomes unmanageable. A specialist procurement manager coordinates everything as a single process, with a single point of accountability.
Can you source equipment not normally available in a particular country?+
Yes. Our supply chain relationships span multiple territories. For equipment that is not stocked locally — or is available locally only on extended lead times that do not fit the project schedule — we source from the most appropriate supply point and manage the international logistics and customs process. This is a particular advantage in regions where the local distribution network for certain brands is limited.
How do you handle customs and import documentation?+
We work with established freight and customs brokers in all major superyacht destinations. We prepare or coordinate the preparation of commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and any equipment-specific documentation required by the destination customs authority. For temporary importation (equipment arriving for a refit and leaving with the vessel), we advise on the appropriate customs procedure and coordinate with the yard's agents.
What happens if equipment lead times conflict with the refit schedule?+
Lead time conflicts are one of the most common complications in galley procurement. We identify conflicts early — at the sourcing and ordering stage, not after orders are placed — and resolve them through alternative sourcing, pre-ordering ahead of specification finalisation where appropriate, or alternative equipment recommendations where necessary. We maintain a live delivery schedule throughout the procurement process and communicate changes proactively.
Do you manage warranty registration and after-sales support?+
Yes. All equipment procured through us is warranty registered at point of delivery. We maintain a record of all installed equipment — model, serial number, installation date and warranty period. For warranty claims, we act as the point of contact between the vessel and the manufacturer, managing the claim process and coordinating service and repair. We also maintain records beyond the warranty period for after-sales spare parts and service referrals.
Can you help with procurement consulting for an owner reviewing supplier quotes?+
Yes. We offer standalone procurement consulting — reviewing equipment quotes received from other suppliers, assessing whether specified equipment is appropriate, checking that pricing is reasonable and that no compliance issues exist with the specified equipment. This is useful for owners or managers who have received a galley specification or quote from a shipyard and want an independent review before committing.
Do you handle laundry and ancillary equipment as well as cooking equipment?+
Yes. Our procurement scope covers all galley and domestic equipment — cooking, refrigeration, dishwashing, laundry, coffee systems, ice makers and ancillary equipment. We manage each item through the same procurement process, coordinating to a single delivery schedule regardless of the number of manufacturers involved.
How do you ensure equipment is delivered in correct condition?+
All deliveries are made against comprehensive freight insurance. We specify appropriate packaging requirements for marine equipment transport. We coordinate inspection at point of delivery where feasible, and receive photographic documentation of all deliveries. Where equipment arrives damaged or incorrect, we resolve the situation directly — either through replacement, repair or insurance claim — without passing the problem to the client to manage independently.
